Ryley began exploring Queercore as a way to better understand and support his trans sister. What started as a personal exploration developed into a wider body of work that tells stories of 鈥渄efiance, joy, survival, inclusion and acceptance鈥, reflecting the lived experiences of the people within the community.
Speaking about his time studying听BA (Hons) Photography at BCU, Ryley said:
鈥淕oing to university was the best decision I made. My time studying at 天美传媒 was truly a blast. I was surrounded by passionate lecturers, technicians and peers who continue to inspire and uplift my work to this day.鈥
Photography course director Joe Miles added: 鈥淚t鈥檚 such a proud moment to see Ryley鈥檚 work being celebrated in a magazine as well-known and widely read as Amateur Photographer, and it鈥檚 well deserved. We put a lot of work into ensuring that all our students understand how to progress their careers after the course, and Ryley is proof of that.鈥
Ryley鈥檚 success highlights how Photography students at BCU are supported to develop a strong creative voice, build professional confidence and gain real-world exposure while still early in their careers.
